Public Ride Day Terms and Conditions

1. General

These Terms & Conditions apply to all ticket purchases for sessions, events, and activities at Rainsbrook Valley Railway (Society).

By purchasing a ticket, visitors agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions and all site rules displayed or communicated by Society volunteers.
2. Ticket Validity

Tickets are valid only for the date and session time selected at the point of purchase.

Each ticket grants access to the railway for the entire booked session, during which visitors may enjoy multiple rides unless otherwise restricted for safety or operational reasons.

Tickets are not valid outside the booked session.
3. Transferability & Session Changes
-
Tickets may be transferred to a later session, subject to availability.
-
Transfer requests must be made before the original session begins.
-
Transfers cannot be made to earlier sessions once the original session has started.

Society reserves the right to refuse transfers during fully booked or special event sessions.
4. Refunds & Cancellations

Tickets are non‑refundable, except where Society cancels a session.

If Society cancels due to weather, operational issues, or safety concerns, visitors will be offered:

A transfer to another available session, or
-
A full refund.

No refunds are provided for missed sessions, late arrivals, or changes in personal circumstances.
5. Safety Requirements

All visitors must follow the instructions of Society volunteers at all times.

Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when riding on the trains.

Babes in arms must be securely carried in a suitable papoose or baby carrier while on the train. Prams, pushchairs, and unsecured infants cannot be carried on rolling stock.

Society reserves the right to deny or rescind access to site, facilities or rides for any reason (i.e. misbehaviour etc.)

Children must be supervised by a responsible adult throughout the visit.

Animals are not allowed on trains and must be on leads / controlled whilst on site. Society does not accept responsibility for any damage or injury to or from animal behaviour.

Visitor access is only permitted on car park, stations, footpaths. No access onto rail lines or beyond boundary fence into old mess room / steaming bays / carriage sheds. Do not enter closed platforms.
6. Accessibility & Special Requirements

Society aims to be accessible and welcoming to all visitors. If you have specific needs, please contact us before your visit so we can assist where possible.

Some rolling stock may have limitations due to heritage design.
7. Photography & Media

Visitors are welcome to take personal photographs and videos.
-
Commercial photography or filming requires prior written permission from Society.

Society may take photographs during events for promotional use. If you prefer not to be included, please speak to a volunteer on arrival.
8. Liability

By riding with us, you agree to follow safety instructions and behave in a way that does not endanger yourself or others.

Society is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property.
-
No liability held for emission of smuts, sparks and smoke from steam locos and any arising damage or injury.
9. Data Protection

Personal information collected during ticket sales is used solely for managing bookings, ensuring safety, and communicating with you for the remainder of the calendar year in which the booking was made, strictly in relation to Rainsbrook Valley Railway activities.

Society does not share personal data with third parties except where required by law.
10. Amendments

Society reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The version in effect at the time of purchase applies to your ticket.
Party Terms and Conditions

1. Booking & Payment

Party sessions must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.
-
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance must be paid by the date specified in your confirmation.

Bookings are confirmed only once payment has been received and a confirmation email has been issued.
2. Session Details
-
Party sessions include exclusive access to the railway for the booked time slot, with multiple train rides available for guests.
-
Session duration and included activities will be outlined in your booking confirmation.

Society reserves the right to adjust session timing or format due to operational or safety reasons.
3. Guest Numbers & Supervision
-
The maximum number of guests (children and adults) must not exceed the agreed limit stated at booking.

Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when riding on the trains.

You may bring your own decorations and food, but please check in advance for any restrictions.

Decorations must be safe, non-damaging, and removed at the end of the session.

Society does not provide catering but may offer recommendations upon request.
6. Cancellations & Changes

Deposits are non-refundable. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as early as possible.

Society may cancel or reschedule a party session due to weather, operational issues, or safety concerns. In such cases, you will be offered:

A transfer to another available date, or
-
A full refund of any payments made (including deposit).

7. Photography & Media

You are welcome to take personal photos and videos during your party.

Society may take photographs for promotional use. If you prefer not to be included, please inform a volunteer on arrival.
